International Muslim leaders joined Sydney imams and community representatives at ANIC’s headquarters in Chullora on Tuesday 13 October for a reception dinner highlighting unity, human dignity and the preservation of faith across generations.

Hosted by the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) in honour of visiting Global Imams and Scholars Council (GISC) delegates, the gathering heard calls for closer cooperation, reflections on Muslim life in Western societies and praise for the Australian community’s hospitality.

SSRIs have a marked chemical impact on the brain.

The image on the left shows radioactive tracer binding to serotonin transporters (SERT) in red/yellow (before Celexa treatment).

The image on the right shows markedly reduced tracer binding, with SERT being blocked by Celexa.

The difference is striking (80%).

And a similar dynamic is almost certainly occurring in utero to SSRI-exposed fetuses.

Malaysia is beautiful, but its people are even more beautiful. 🇲🇾

A full day of talks, podcast recordings, and meetings.
Jazakum Allahu khayran to Dr Abu Darda, and to all the lecturers, staff, and students at the UKM Islamic Studies Department. It was an honour to deliver a talk on mental health and give an introduction to the Islamic understanding of mental health.

Jazakum Allahu khayran to the brothers and sisters at Faith Events for providing the logistics, transportation, and hospitality, and for hosting us for the podcast and meetings. The setup they have is truly inspiring.
May Allah bless Malaysia and its people.

I hope to visit again, Insha’Allah, and stay for a longer period next time.

So apparently, my eldest has decided he wants to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a psychologist. I’m not quite sure whether I should be celebrating or panicking! 😂

On the one hand, I suppose it’s a lovely sign that he admires his dad, alhamdulillah. On the other hand, I’m slightly concerned because I didn’t study psychology with the intention of encouraging my children to follow the same path. If anything, part of my motivation was to understand the subject deeply enough to highlight and address some of its negatives and limitations.

Of course, I would absolutely want my children to learn Islam at a deep and meaningful level, and that will always be a priority for me. But now I find myself wondering how psychology fits into that picture.

Perhaps I need to have a proper sit-down with my eldest before he starts diagnosing the whole family! 😂

Do I encourage him to pursue psychology? Do I gently steer him towards something else?

Or do I simply let him explore his interests and trust that, with the right Islamic foundation, he’ll know how to navigate the field?

Honestly, I’m a little conflicted. Any thoughts from parents who have been in a similar situation?

Perhaps his most interesting observation concerns the feedback loop of authority. Academics cite advocates; advocates cite journalists; journalists cite academics; politicians cite all three. Eventually an assertion appears to have multiple independent sources when they may actually be reinforcing the same underlying assumptions (whether or not those assumptions are valid or true).

In Golden’s words, “Advocacy becomes fact”.

The comments develop this point further. Stephen Hosking calls it “Proof by Citation”: follow some claims backwards and the references can become circular. He then describes the next stage as “Proof by Public Knowledge”. Once “everyone knows” something, questioning it becomes socially difficult...

Other commenters argue that feminism has become sufficiently embedded within institutions that it is increasingly experienced not as an ideology but simply as the status quo.

Whether or not you accept Golden’s entire thesis, the underlying challenge is worth taking very seriously:

We scrutinise ideological pipelines outside institutions. Why shouldn’t we scrutinise the assumptions travelling through our most powerful institutions too?

Tom Golden’s new essay, The Femosphere Pipeline, asks a provocative question: why is there so much public anxiety about the “manosphere”, but so little scrutiny of the much larger institutional ecosystem through which feminist ideas travel?

https://menaregood.substack.com/p/the-femosphere-pipeline

Golden calls this ecosystem the “femosphere”: academia, education, advocacy organisations, government agencies, media, entertainment, legislatures and courts. His argument isn't simply that feminism is influential, but that these institutions can form a pipeline:

Academia/advocacy → media → education → government → policy → law → culture

An idea begins as theory or advocacy. Journalists repeat it. Educators teach it. Government agencies incorporate it into training and reports. Politicians legislate around it. Courts then apply concepts that have acquired institutional legitimacy. Golden uses coercive control as an example, alongside hegemonic masculinity and intersectionality.

ADHD UK, the 'charity' that orchestrated 9,656 complaints against C4s 'The Great ADHD Myth' documentary, has an explicit commercial relationship with ADHD 360, a major private provider of ADHD assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

To properly understand the outcry about the Channel 4 documentary ‘The Great ADHD Myth?’ which was the first documentary to question the pseudoscience that has become accepted as real science - then follow the money.

A video attacking the life-saving Office for Men’s Health Bill has gone viral.

In less than twelve hours, it has racked up hundreds of thousands of views and likes, along with an endless stream of angry comments.

Because apparently, it doesn’t matter that American men lead in 13 of the 15 leading causes of death, die at higher rates at every age than women, and experience worse health outcomes across every racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic group.

Instead, we get the same recycled talking points: “women were excluded from clinical trials,” something about male rats, and the usual “male bodies were centred” nonsense.

Let’s be clear:

There are TEN federally funded Offices for Women’s Health—and ZERO for men, despite the dire state of men’s health.

And apparently, even one office dedicated to addressing men’s health is too much for low-effort, narcissistic, rage-bait grifters like this.

Bio markers have been emerging since the 19th century and you see headlines that misleads the public with terms like ‘new’, ‘emerging’, ‘breaking new study’ etc all hype without substance.

When Evil Is Made to Look Good: The Qur’an on Killing Children

There are two powerful verses in Surah al-An’am that are worth reflecting on, particularly because of how they describe the psychology behind the killing of children.

Allah says:

“And likewise, their partners made the killing of their children appealing to many of the polytheists, in order to ruin them and confuse them in their religion. Had Allah willed, they would not have done so. So leave them with what they fabricate.” (6:137)

Then Allah says:

“Indeed, those have lost who killed their children foolishly, without knowledge, and prohibited what Allah had provided for them, fabricating lies against Allah. They have certainly gone astray and were not rightly guided.” (6:140)

What is striking here is the language Allah uses. The problem was not simply that these people killed their children. The Qur’an also explains how they came to accept something so horrific in the first place: it was made to appear acceptable to them.

The word zuyyina refers to something being made attractive or appealing. According to Ibn Kathir and al-Tabari, the “partners” mentioned in the verse refer to the devils who encouraged the polytheists towards these practices and made them seem justified.

This is an important lesson about how evil works. Shayatan does not always approach people by saying, “Do something evil.” Often, the more effective method is to make evil appear reasonable, necessary, compassionate, honourable or even morally good.

The people mentioned in these verses had various reasons for killing their children. Some killed them because of poverty or fear of poverty, while others killed their daughters because of social shame and fear of dishonour. Whatever the justification, Allah strips away the excuses and tells us what it really was: loss, foolishness, falsehood and misguidance.

Allah says:

“They have certainly gone astray and were not rightly guided.”

This is a powerful reminder for every generation. We should never assume that something becomes morally right simply because a society has developed sophisticated arguments to justify it. A culture can normalise something, intellectuals can defend it, politicians can legislate for it and the media can present it as compassionate- and yet it can still be fundamentally wrong.

The Qur’an teaches us to look beyond the justification and ask a more basic question: What are we actually doing, and what has Allah said about it?

Allah makes the matter clear elsewhere:

“Do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, killing them is a grave sin. (17:31)

The Qur’an does more than condemn the act itself. It exposes the process by which human beings can become comfortable with something profoundly immoral: false beliefs, fear, social pressure, self-interest and, ultimately, the beautification of evil.

That is perhaps one of the most important lessons from these verses. We should be very careful whenever we find ourselves searching for sophisticated reasons to justify something that our natural moral sense and the guidance of Allah tell us is wrong.

Evil does not always look evil. Sometimes, the greatest danger is when evil is made to look good.

The depraved, satanic and utterly disgusting behaviour of so many people online who are openly defending a child killer is truly astonishing. To defend the deliberate killing of innocent children and then attempt to justify, excuse or glorify such acts is a profound moral disgrace. It is deeply disturbing to see people become so desensitised to the suffering and death of innocent human beings. The influence of the devil can indeed lead people so far astray that they begin to call evil good and defend what should be condemned without hesitation.

Decades before Britain’s new Channel 4 documentary, "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗗𝗛𝗗 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵?" began questioning the validity of the ADHD diagnosis, in the 1990s neurologist Fred Baughman was publicly testifying before governments that ADHD was “a total, 100% fraud.” And the new Channel 4 documentary seems to agree, “It’s certainly not a medical condition as far as I’m concerned,” says the former president of the Royal College of General Practitioners, Dr Iona Heath. And a psychologist asks, “We’re going to look back and think: did we actually put a chemical cosh on an entire developing generation of brains?”

On the contrary. The failure- after several decades of research and billions in expenditure- to identify any specific pathophysiological process in almost any psychiatric diagnosis has only increased the justification for distinguishing the two.

While it may be good for medicine and psychiatry to conflate the two, it would be a category error to do so, and category errors are generally not good for people.

Instead, we need to be clear that ‘mental health’ problems are not medical.

According to Dr Iona Heath – former president of the Royal College of General Practitioners ADHD ‘is “a social construct” rather than the “neurodevelopmental condition” it’s currently described as by the NHS.’

‘the children who can’t sit still in class are canaries in the coal mine, flagging the way the education system is failing. “There have been so many cuts to the creative arts and to sport in schools,” she says. “The arts – the drama, music, dancing, painting and pottery that was an outlet for so many of these kinds of children – has been shutting down.”

They are now de-diagnosing children in Sweden. And I’ve met way too many adolescents who have been misdiagnosed, de-diagnosed, and then re-diagnosed with something else.

The findings completely expose the hidden flaws in automated systems.

Every single model exhibited gender sensitivity.

Between 10% and 35% of statements received completely inconsistent truth labels across the different gender variants solely because of how the speaker was presented.

When researchers compared Male and Female variants, flip rates hit up to 23.6%.

The AI changed its mind on whether a statement was true or false based entirely on the gender of the person who said it.

Two primary bias patterns emerged:

• Instability: Wildly inconsistent judgments on identical facts.
• Directionality: Systematic favoritism.

The strongest directional effects revealed a clear "male-skeptic" pattern.

When identical claims were attributed to male personas, the models were systematically harsher, more skeptical, and quicker to flag statements as misinformation compared to neutral or female variants.

AI is rapidly being deployed to automate content moderation, compliance, and fact-checking at scale.

If the underlying engine is quietly biased against specific demographic groups, you aren't deploying objective code.

Researchers proved every major LLM is secretly biased against men.

And they finally figured out why.

They tested a 13 of the most popular LLMs and found that they exhibit a statistically significant, negative sentiment toward men in various contexts.

They ran an experiment by taking statements and altering only the speaker's gender presentation (Neutral, Male, or Female).

The goal was to test whether an AI’s judgment changes based solely on gender.
